E-Learning

An extensive Global Digital E-learning Initiative is the most unique feature of The Els Center of Excellence.  Dr. Matthew Goodwin , an Advisor to Els for Autism and professor at Northeastern University sums up the importance:

“Several studies have demonstrated that children with ASD can learn a variety of social, communication, and academic skills more rapidly with a computer than with traditional teaching strategies. However, delineating what aspects of CAI confers this advantage – including specific platforms, curriculum content, and educational pacing – is currently unknown and of great technical, educational, and scientific interest.

The Els for Autism Global Digital Learning initiative will focus on developing online multimedia content and compelling, immersive environments to teach children with ASD the educational, social, and independent skills needed to lead satisfying and productive lives. Our interdisciplinary team of experts including psychologists, special educators, and game developers will work together with schools and major universities to create engaging and entertaining educational experiences that are not only tailored to the special interests and needs of children with ASD, but accessible far beyond the walls of school settings.”

Els for Autism plans e-learning activities in the following areas:

Courses for caregivers and children on the spectrum

National and International Outreach

Videoconferencing access to various therapies

E-learning research

Proprietary programming for children on the spectrum
